Parisians, but not for long...

OK, so here goes. A blog eh? So yes we gave in to peer pressure! Well, we say a blog, but this entry may be the only blog-type entry there is! Thing is, we are going travelling for 10 weeks, travelling the west coast of Canada, The US and maybe a little Mexico. That’s a lot of postcards to send, so we decided to set this up so you can see where we are, what we’re doing, and where we’re going! So the rest of the entries should be quite short – “Weather lovely, wish you were here” type of stuff.

We always meant to do a blog for the time we were in Paris (2 years now – as we write this Andrew is packing up all our belongings for the movers coming tomorrow!) but never quite got round to it, along with a lot of other things. Thank god London is only 2 and a bit hours away on the Eurostar – we can pop over for dinner and drinks, and come back the next morning – yay! So here is a little mini-blog for Paris. It deserves more, but we just don’t have the time now.

So here's the thing… we like steak. We have it a LOT here. In fact, Andrew is not very adventurous at all with food. Ashley has really broadened his tastes here, even eating l’escargot a couple of times. Andrew invariably has steak; the good thing is he is now like an expert on good steaks of Paris. Last night we went to La Coupole, a Paris institution we read. Was the steak any good – nope. We both has it (a Chateaubriand) and it was pretty fatty. So don’t bother going there. The frites weren’t even that great!

Now a great steak is to be found at our favourite brasserie “Brasserie Fernand” at 13 rue Guisarde, round the corner from our current apartment. It comes with mashed potatoes but Andrew always asks for it with gratin dauphinoise – also the best we’ve had in Paris. If you have visited us in Paris then no doubt we have dragged you there. We had our “last meal” there the other night – was quite sad actually. We’ll just soak it all in while we can and remember that we can always come visit our home of 2 years – though it will never be home again ☹
